The First of June

I can't believe Adeline is going to be 4 next Tuesday! It makes me sad that she is growing up so fast :(  We are going to the zoo on her birthday with Dad and Brittany. I've been busy planning her Beauty and the Beast party we are having next Saturday. Hopefully I will have the time to post pictures of the party and write how it went because I still have yet to do that with Ryder's party back in March! He had a great party. It was the first party I've had at our house and I think it made it less stressful since I didn't have to pack up everything to take to Nan's. Since Ryder loves Elmo I decided to do an Elmo party for him. I made all the table centerpieces and pom poms. I bought Elmo shirts for the kids to wear and I made Ryder's Elmo cake which wasn't the greatest looking, but for not having the time and patience for it, it still turned out ok! Along with the cake, we had cupcakes, cake batter dip with graham cracker sticks, and ice cream for dessert. For Dinner we just had pizza, salad and chips. We ended up having around 30 or more people there. I don't think we will have that many at Adeline's. It will be nice having her party outside since it was too cold out for Ryder's.

This past Tuesday Eliza got her ears pierced at her 6 month appointment. All they had were gold ball earrings so I can't wait to change them since I'm not a huge fan. Since she has gotten them pierced, they haven't bothered her at all! She is 74th % in weight (17 lbs.), 75th % in height, and 100th % in head circumference! haha. She is a healthy girl! I just started her on food this past week. So far she has had grilled cheese, pasta, cucumber, waffle, rice cake, noodles, green pepper, cheese bread and avocado. She had been so good about chewing/sucking on all the food, but I don't think she has actually swallowed anything yet! I highly suggest all moms read Baby-Led Weaning. It totally changed my outlook on how and what to feed a baby.  I always thought you had to give them cereal at 4 months and then start them on pureed food at 6 months and wait to give them solids until they were close to one. Basically the pureed foods are not necessary (and just a waste of money). Babies do better when they can feed themselves and have a variety of foods to choose from. In the end they will have healthier eating habits and won't be so picky. Basically feed them what you are eating as long as you know it's not a choking hazard and it is healthy. This will make you more aware of what you are eating as well! I have been learning a lot more about nutrition lately and it's been making me watch what I foods I make for the family.  It was nice that Eliza's pediatrician encouraged this way of feeding too.

Last Sunday Matt and I went to one of his college friends wedding. Nan came to our house and spend the night Sunday night to watch the kids. Monday morning she so graciously took her time to  go with me to buy flowers and help me arrange them in the pots. She is so good at putting things together! I really appreciate her help! They turned out really good.

Now we just need a patio table and umbrella!

The garden is growing nicely. I can't wait until we have veggies!
Green beans, squash, and zuchinni

Cucumbers, broccoli, (green, red, orange, yellow) peppers, and tomatoes

  1. Was searching for my GF's blog and came across yours. Loved your thoughtful reasoning and description and pictures of having your dd's
ears pierced as an infant. I think you were a super smart mommy for doing it now when mommy can care for them. She'll thank you later!

Our ped also encouraged to do it when mommy could care for them. I think babies and little girls with pierced ears are adorable. It celebrates their femininity and femaleness. Like you, I kept seeing babies and little girls with earrings and how cute they were with little gold studs in their ears poking through their hair.

Our ped gave me some suggestions for moms having their infant dd's ears pierced as well as for "Tips for moms having their dd's ears
    pierced/Care of Newly Pierced Ears."

If you or any other moms thinking about it and want to do it now or would like them, write me an e-mail.
